Pecan Tarts Recipe


Pecan tarts has got to be one of the top favorite desserts in my family. My Auntie Fely is the OG Pecan Tart maker in the fam. Hers are much cuter than mine though. She actually takes the time to make the mini crusts look a little more decorative so they mimic the larger pie crusts. These are already time consuming so I omit the cutesy part and get straight to the point.

I’ve had several trials and errors before finally getting it right in my oven. I can never follow recipes to the exact because of my oven. It seems to heat up stronger than what recipes call for. With my own trials, I’ve also concluded, as a sole preference, that Horizon Organic Unsalted Butter taste better. Maybe I’m biased because I love Horizon brand anythingggg LOL.

This recipe is fairly easy. What makes it hard, as many Pecan Tart makers would describe, is the actual labor. These are tiny pies, so unless you use pre-made crusts (which will not be as great), you will just have to put your heart into it. Just think of your loved ones who will devour these heavenly things.

This is not for the dieters and healthy eaters. This is for those “fuck a diet” kind of days. This is popular in the “fluffy season” when you gather with your near and dears. This is not for the borderline or full-blown diabetics. This is not for the kids near their bedtime. This is great for potlucks and holiday food gifts.

Let’s get our fat on……

Pecan Tarts

1. 1 cup butter (room temperature)
2. 8 oz. cream cheese (room temperature)
3. 2 cups all purpose flour
1. 4 eggs
2. 2 cups chopped pecans
3. 4 tbsp melted butter
4. 1 tsp. vanilla extract
5. 2 cups brown sugar

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. In a large bowl, mix together flour, butter and cream cheese. I don’t own a kitchenette mixer (I wish I did), so I did it ghetto style….. With my handy dandy (and very clean) hands.


2. Set the dough aside.
3. In a separate bowl, add eggs, brown sugar, melted butter and vanilla. Mix together. (not with hands this time)





4. Add pecans to brown sugar mixture and mix in well.


5. Make small balls with the crust dough and place them in the slots of ungreased mini muffin pans.

6. Using your fingers, create the crust following the mini muffin pan shapes. I luckily have found a plastic cylinder toy from my son’s toy bin, that fit perfectly into these mini muffin slots. This is what I’ve been using lately to make these crusts a tiny bit easier on me.


7. Fill these tiny crusts with the pecan mixture about 1/2-3/4 full.

8. Place in the middle of the oven and bake for 18 minutes or until crusts have browned a little.



With this recipe, I am able to make about 7-8 dozens. I hope this recipe finds you and your loved ones well. It truly is something you will like making for special people. Enjoy!
